Penn State World Campus offers free academic coaching from trained professionals to assist students seeking help with their academic goals. As a World Campus student, you can meet with a coach who will help you develop and implement positive habits that can lead to success. You’ll reflect on your knowledge, skills, and abilities and then create action plans to work through obstacles, leverage your strengths, and achieve your goals.
During your initial meeting with an academic coach, you will learn more about the academic coaching program and potential benefits based on your needs and interests. Subsequent sessions are held weekly or biweekly, based on your availability and the coach’s availability, and last between 30 and 60 minutes.
Common topics discussed during coaching meetings include:
- time management and productivity
- establishing and maintaining a school/life balance
- reading, note-taking, studying, and testing strategies
- managing procrastination
- using technology for online learning
- hidden curriculum of adult and asynchronous online learning
