This course introduces students to the field of forensic science, with special focus on criminalistics, and helps them develop the intellectual skills needed to collect, examine, evaluate, and interpret evidence. Students will follow a single case from start to finish, beginning with the collection of evidence from the crime scene and culminating in a reconstruction of the incident based upon the analyses performed throughout the semester. Students will also explore other careers in forensic science, as well as the role of forensic science in the criminal justice system and the impact of forensic science on everyday life.
