HDFS Internship

Internship Requirements

Whether you are pursuing your associate's or bachelor's degree, your HDFS education will end with a required capstone internship experience. Internships are supervised learning experiences during which you will apply your knowledge and develop skills and competencies through working with professionals at organizations that you select. For both degrees, internship requirements are completed over two semesters - you will first complete your internship preparation class, then enroll in the internship experience itself in the following semester.

Graduation and internship planning involves working with your academic adviser to develop an academic timeline, working with the HDFS internship director to establish an internship plan, and putting these two components together for a final graduation and internship plan. When you have completed this process, you should understand the internship requirement, be ready to begin your internship search, and have a clear path to graduation.

Review the internship information available in the HDFS World Campus Student Resources found in Canvas. If you cannot access this site, please email your academic adviser. There is a lot of information available about the HDFS Internship Requirement. Students are responsible for reviewing this material prior to consulting with the HDFS Internship Director.

Complete the HDFS Internship Planning Form

After reviewing the resources on the Canvas site, please complete the HDFS Internship Planning form. This should be completed about a semester (associate-level students) or a year (bachelor-level students) before you plan to take the internship preparation course. You will receive a copy of your submission and then you can schedule an appointment to speak with your academic adviser about next steps. Students with concerns about their ability to complete a full-time internship should contact the internship director, Ms. Terry Cummins ([email protected]), as soon as possible.
