Virtual Memorial Day Fitness Challenge

Monday, May 24, 2021 (All day) to Monday, May 31, 2021 (All day)

Come join us in participating in the 2nd Annual Virtual Memorial Day Fitness Challenge honoring one of our very own!

Navy SEAL Lt. Michael P. Murphy was killed in action on June 28th, 2005, during Operation Red Wings in the Kunar Province, Afghanistan. A Penn State alumnus, Lt. Murphy was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor for his valor during the mission and is also celebrated at the Veterans Plaza located on the University Park campus.

Commemorating his ultimate sacrifice, the Murph Challenge has been created to honor his memory. It is based off the Body Armor workout that Lt. Murphy created while being stationed in Afghanistan. The original Murph challenge consists of a 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and another 1-mile run, all to be completed while wearing a 20-pound armored vest.

While it is still recommended to practice safe social distancing, you can unite with the Penn State World Campus student community and take on our Virtual Memorial Day Fitness Challenge.
