Penn State’s two-factor authentication (2FA) service provides a second layer of security for students using Penn State systems and services.
What is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?
2FA adds a second piece of information required when logging in to Penn State systems and services, such as LionPATH, Canvas, your Penn State email in Outlook, and other Office 365 applications. All Penn State students are required to use 2FA to access these systems. After entering your login informatuon, you will then use another device, such as your mobile phone, to verify your identity. When you enroll in 2FA, you can choose the device(s) you prefer to use for two-factor authentication.
Remember, it is important to keep your 2FA settings up to date so you can access Penn State resources quickly and easily while keeping your information secure. We also strongly suggest that you have at least one backup device connected to your account, in addition to your primary device(s). To add or remove devices or get help with any 2FA issues, log in to your Penn State account at accounts.psu.edu.
