Scheduling Your First Course

To register for courses during your first semester as a World Campus students, follow these steps.

Step 1: Fill out a Course Registration and Access Account Form

The course registration PDF forms are only for scheduling your first course. If this is not your first course, please follow the instructions on the "Scheduling a Course" page on how to register for a course through eLion. You will also need to register for an access account at this time if you do not already have one.

Access Account Form — All Students

The Penn State Access Account will allow you to access:

  • Penn State online courses, workshops, and other resources
  • Penn State email
  • Penn State University Libraries resources
  • eLion

To receive a Penn State Access Account, you must agree to use your account in accordance with University policies. Also, federal aid guidelines require universities to have a signature on file for any charges that are not applied to all students. To comply with both of these regulations, you must read, complete, and return an Access Account Acceptance form before your registration process can be completed.

If you're in one of the following programs, please use this registration form. (PDF)

  • Geographic Information Systems (Master's Degree and Postbaccalaureate Certificate)
  • Geospatial Intelligence (Graduate Certificate)
  • Homeland Security Programs (Master's Degree, including all associated options and certificates)
  • Information Sciences (Master's Degree)
  • Nuclear Engineering (Master’s Degree)
  • Public Administration (Master's Degree)
  • Supply Chain and Information Systems (Master's Degree and Graduate Certificate)
  • Turfgrass Management (Master’s Degree)

Students in all other graduate programs should use this registration form. (PDF)

Step 2: Send Us Your Completed Registration Forms

There are 2 ways you can send us the registration form and the access account statement form:

  1. Scan the completed documents as PDFs and email as attachments to registration@outreach.psu.edu
    OR
  2. Fax the completed forms to 814-865-3290

Please note: Courses are scheduled according to a priority registration date; the first day that you may schedule World Campus course(s) is based upon the total credits earned to date. (Students with transfer credits posted to their transcript may include those credits in the total.) To see where you fall in priority registration, indicate your semester, campus location (World Campus), and student level in the registration timetable.

When will I receive notification that my forms were received?

You should receive the following notifications after we receive your forms:

  1. Your Access Account ID (official Penn State User ID) — by email and your password by surface mail (creation of your user ID and password takes 7–20 business days from submission of completed forms).
  2. If we are unable to schedule your course — within 3–5 business days of submitting your completed forms.
  3. When your course(s) are scheduled — by e-mail within 24 hours of the course being scheduled in our system.
