Penn State has a two-step registration process: First, schedule your courses, and then pay your tuition bill or confirm that you’ll be using financial aid. If you don’t complete both steps, World Campus will cancel you from your courses. You can complete both steps in eLion.
How do I complete my registration?
To pay your bill or indicate your use of financial aid, simply log in to eLion, select “Bursar Tuition Bills” from the menu, and choose the current semester. See our step-by-step instructions for more information.
How do I know if I have completed my registration?
You can find out whether your registration is complete in eLion:
If you have completed your registration, it will state that your registration is complete. If you do not see this, you still need to establish full payment and complete your registration.
What if I do not complete my registration?
If you do not complete your registration by paying your bill or confirming that you’ll be using financial aid by your due date, you risk being cancelled from your classes and will not be allowed to be reinstated in the current semester.
In addition, financial and other implications may apply if you do not complete your registration. Review our list of consequences of not completing your registration for more details.
How can I avoid being cancelled from my classes?
All you need to do is pay your bill by your scheduled due date. If you have questions or concerns, please contact the World Campus and Continuing Education Bursar Office.
Will I be notified if I need to complete my registration and/or pay my bill?
Yes, you will receive notifications to your Penn State email account if you still need to complete your registration. If you receive one of these messages, be sure to log into eLion and complete your registration, or contact the World Campus and Continuing Education Bursar Office immediately if you have questions.
What if I have enough student aid to cover my balance? Do I still need to complete my registration?
Yes. If your net payable balance is zero ($0) because student aid covers your tuition and fees, you still need to take action in eLion.
Once your student aid is reflected in your eLion account, you still must complete your registration. You can do this in eLion:
- Log in to eLion
- Select “Bursar Tuition Bills”
- Choose the current semester
- Choose “Confirm Attendance Without Payment”
If you have questions or concerns about student aid, please contact studentaid@outreach.psu.edu.
What if my employer or a third-party source such as the military is paying my tuition?
If your company or another third party is paying your tuition and fees, you will still need to take action to complete your registration: Submit the required documentation and then confirm the payment in eLion. You need to provide an official Authorization to Bill or voucher from your company, or a Tuition Assistance Form from the military, to the Bursar Office. It may take approximately one week to process this form, so you should be sure to submit it in time to be processed by the due date on your bill. The staff will adjust your tuition to show expected payment, and the company will be billed. Once the expected payment is reflected in your account, you will be able to pay any remaining tuition or fees not covered by the authorization and complete your registration.
See our instructions on how to proceed if a third party is covering the costs of your education for more information.
Once the third party funds are applied to your student account, you will be able to view the transaction through eLion.
